The Zandmotor is a quiet, wide beach with the shape of a peninsula, creating two inland water pools that form a resting area for various birds, especially during bird migration. Waterfowl such as Pittima minore all sorts of plovers such as Corriere grosso and sandpipers such as Piovanello pancianera, Piovanello tridattilo, Gambecchio comune and of course many species of seagulls, reside in and around the two inland pools. Smaller birds such as Zigolo delle nevi, Pispola, Fanello, Saltimpalo, etc. can be observed on the wide beach and in the dune vegetation.

Nederlands: De Zandmotor is een kunstmatig aangelegde zandbank in de vorm van een schiereiland. Onder invloed van golven, wind en stroming langs de kust naar het noorden verandert de zandbank. Het is een rustig wijds strand met een aparte vorm van een schiereiland waardoor een tweetal inlandse waterpartijen zijn ontstaan die een rustgebied vormen voor diverse vogels, met name tijdens de vogeltrek. Watervogels zoals Pittima minore allerlei plevieren zoals Corriere grosso en strandlopers zoals Piovanello pancianera, Piovanello tridattilo, Gambecchio comune en vanzelfsprekend heel veel soorten meeuwen, verblijven in en rondom de twee inlandse waterpartijen. Kleinere vogels zoals Zigolo delle nevi, Pispola, Fanello, Saltimpalo, etc. kunnen op het weidse strand en in de duinvegetatie worden waargenomen.

Parking at Ter Heijde, beach entrance De Molenslag. Parking is paid during the season. Another alternative is parking in Kijkduin, Machiel Vrijenhoeklaan car park. From there, walk to beach entrance 2 (Hoek van Hollandpad). Walk on the beach for 15 minutes. A good alternative is the bicycle. There is a cycle path parallel to the beach (exactly between the beach and the sea). Various options to park your bike and go to the beach or enter the dunes.

Nederlands: Parkeren bij Ter Heijde, strandopgang De Molenslag. In het seizoen is het betaald parkeren. Een ander alternatief is parkeren in Kijkduin, parkeerterrein Machiel Vrijenhoeklaan. Loop vanaf daar naar strandopgang 2 (Hoek van Hollandpad). Loop 15 minuten over het strand. Een goed alternatief is de fiets. Er loopt een fietspad evenredig aan het strand (precies tussen het strand en zee in). Diverse opties om je fiets te parkeren en het strand op te gaan of de duinen in te gaan.
