De Bruuk is a small nature reserve that consists of rare types of grassland full of orchids. The best time to visit is between May and July. Orchids and other plants will be in full bloom and rare butterflies like Purple Emperor, Large Tortoiseshell, Short-tailed Blue and Small Pearl-bordered Fritillary are flying around. Some birds you can see here are Saltimpalo, Prispolone and Forapaglie macchiettato. If you're lucky you might see a European Grass Snake.
Besides the orchid rich meadows there are also wet oak and alder forests. In these small forests Picchio rosso mezzano, Rigogolo, Codirosso, Balia nera and Falco pecchiaiolo breed. Just outside the reserve are different streams. In winter these are frequented by Martin pescatore, Ballerina gialla, Airone bianco maggiore, Piro piro culbianco and Tuffetto.

Nederlands: Natuurgebied De Bruuk staat bekend om zijn graslanden. In juni is het een kleurrijke wereld met duizenden bloeiende orchideeën. Maar ook de vogels zijn goed! Het gebied dat bestaat uit zeldzame soorten grasland vol met orchideeën. De beste tijd om te bezoeken is tussen mei en juli. Orchideeën en andere planten staan dan in volle bloei en zeldzame vlinders zoals de grote weerschijnvlinder, de grote vos, het staartblauwtje en de zilveren maan vliegen rond. Enkele vogels die je hier kunt zien zijn: Saltimpalo, Prispolone en Forapaglie macchiettato. Als je geluk hebt, zie je misschien een ringslang.
Naast de orchideeënrijke weilanden zijn er ook natte eiken- en elzenbossen. In deze kleine bossen broeden: Picchio rosso mezzano, Rigogolo, Codirosso, Balia nera en Falco pecchiaiolo. Net buiten het reservaat zijn verschillende beken. In de winter worden deze bezocht door Martin pescatore, Ballerina gialla, Airone bianco maggiore, Piro piro culbianco en Tuffetto.

The nature reserve is small. On two sides there are car parks and it's easy stroll around in the reserve. Early morning is of course best for birds. Later on the day is better for the rare butterflies.

Nederlands: Dit natuurgebied bij Groesbeek is klein. Aan twee kanten zijn er parkeerplaatsen en het is gemakkelijk om rond te wandelen in het reservaat. Vroeg in de ochtend is natuurlijk het beste voor vogels. Later op de dag is beter voor de zeldzame vlinders.
