The Cannerbos is part of the estate of Castle Neercanne. The total estate measures 37 hectares. It is a slope forest on the slope from the Jekerdal to the Cannerberg, where the height rises from 60 meters to 109 meters. West of the Cannerbos is the Millennium Forest through which the indicated walk also runs. The mix of old and young oak and beech is attractive to woodpeckers and other cave dwellers. Birds you may encounter along the way are Picchio rosso minore, Picchio rosso mezzano, Picchio rosso maggiore, Picchio verde, Cincia bigia, Fiorrancino, Picchio muratore, Sparviere, Gheppio and Zigolo giallo.

Nederlands: Fijne wandeling van 3 kilometer langs open velden en door de hellingbossen van het Cannerbos waar vaak verschillende soorten spechten te zien zijn. Het Cannerbos is onderdeel van het landgoed van Kasteel Neercanne. Het totale landgoed meet 37 hectare en is in bezit van de Stichting Limburgs Landschap. Het eigenlijke bos is een hellingbos op de helling van het Jekerdal naar de Cannerberg, waarbij de hoogte van 60 meter naar 109 meter stijgt. Ten westen van het Cannerbos ligt het Millenniumbos waar de aangegeven wandeling ook doorheen loopt. De mix van oude en jonge eiken en beuken is aantrekkelijk voor spechten en andere holenbroeders. Vogels die je onderweg kunt tegenkomen zijn Picchio rosso minore, Picchio rosso mezzano, Picchio rosso maggiore, Picchio verde, Fiorrancino, Cincia bigia, Picchio muratore, Sparviere, Gheppio en Zigolo giallo.

There are several parking spaces at Castle Neercanne. Click on a P in the map for directions to that parking. From the parking lot you can take a 3 km circular walk (see the map), which can also easily be extended into a longer walk.

Nederlands: Er zijn meerdere parkeerplaatsen bij Kasteel Neercanne. Klik op een P in de kaart voor een routebeschrijving naar die plek. Vanaf de parkeerplaats kun je een rondwandeling van 3 km maken (zie de kaart) die ook gemakkelijk is te verlengen tot een langere wandeling.
