Walking through the varied landscape of the Bakkeveense Duinen you can find birds from the heath as well as the forest and you can see, for example Corvo imperiale, Crociere comune, Fiorrancino or Codirosso. In spring, when the leaves are not yet on the trees, this is a fantastic place to watch woodpeckers, with all the species that can be seen in the Netherlands.

Nederlands: De Bakkeveense Duinen vormen een afwisselend natuurgebied met zowel bos, heide als zandverstuivingen. In het weekend is het druk, maar op doordeweekse dagen is dit een geschikte en mooie plek om te wandelen en vogels te kijken. Hier zijn zowel vogels van de heide als het bos te vinden en zie je bijvoorbeeld de Corvo imperiale, Crociere comune, Fiorrancino of de Codirosso. In het voorjaar, wanneer het blad nog niet aan de bomen zit, is dit een fantastische plek om spechten te kijken, met alle soorten die in Nederland zijn te zien. Naast vogels heeft dit gebied ook historische hoogtepunten. Zo is hier het Landweer, een middeleeuws verdedigingswerk, een oude holle weg en prehistorische grafheuvels.

The area can only be explored on foot. The routes can be reached by car or bicycle and it is best to start from the parking lot at Bakkeveen. The long route of 8.5 km is marked with green posts. The short 3.5 km route is marked with red posts.

Nederlands: Het gebied is uitsluitend wandelend te verkennen. De routes zijn te bereiken per auto of fiets en het beste te starten vanaf de parkeerplaats bij het TOP (toerischtisch overstap punt) bij Bakkeveen. De lange route van 8,5 km is gemarkeerd met groene paaltjes. De korte route van 3,5 km is gemarkeerd met rode paaltjes.
