The Tannourine Cedars Forest Nature Reserve is one of the largest and densest cedar forests in Lebanon. The area has cliffs, caves, and ancient cedar trees, some of which are believed to be over 1,000 years old. Tannourine Cedars Forest Nature Reserve is an IBA (Important Bird Area) in Lebanon according to Birdlife International. Relatively close to the Ehden Reserve and the Ehden Raptor Count, it is also located on an interesting migratory route for large soaring birds, particularly Aquila anatraia minore and Aquila anatraia maggiore. On the entomological and herpetological level, also many species have been recorded by a scientific team. For more information, visit the reserve office. Tannourine Cedars Forest Nature Reserve can be best accessed from Batroun. From Becharré and Byblos, the roads are in poorer condition. Park in the reserve's parking lot. Press P on the map for directions to the parking. From there explore the area on foot. The circular walking route indicated on the map is about 5 km. In winter, snow can be very heavy and completely block access.
