Bakkatjörn pond is a pond near Grótta in Seltjarnarnes, where many bird species reside for example: Volpoca, Beccaccia di mare, Strolaga minore, Pittima reale, Sterna codalunga, Edredone, Cigno selvatico and Pispola.
A bird watching hide by the pond allows bird watchers the opportunity to study and photograph the rich bird life of Bakkatjörn pond. The site is one of the most important nesting grounds of Sterna codalunga in the capital region. The hide is designed to blend into the landscape, allowing bird watchers an opportunity to observe the birds without disturbing them.

Bakkatjörn is located within a walking distance (5 km) from the centre of Reykjavik. You should go through Seltjarnarnes town heading to western end of a peninsula. You can park your car at the parking lot on Suðurströnd street. Click on the P in the map for directions.
