Descrizione
Teiche in der Heubachniederung is an area of 120-hectare of fish ponds located in the formerly largely swampy lowland of the river Heubach west of the village of Dülmen. There are numerous ponds, up to 30 hectares in size, mostly hidden behind high hedges or wooded areas. Only a small part is still used for carp farming today. Most of the pond areas are now used for nature conservation purposes. The diversity of large bodies of water, clear streams and ditches, wet meadows, heaths, moors and damp forests in a relatively small area attracts numerous birds. Among the birds that can be spotted are Pettazzurro, Nibbio reale, Falco pescatore, Falco pecchiaiolo, Piro piro piccolo, Tarabuso, Falco di palude, Mignattino comune and Martin pescatore.
