The Scheringteiche are located in a series of nature reserves along the river Lippe and the Datteln-Hamm Canal. The ponds and its surroundings are good for taking photos, because the birds are not so far away. There are many interesting birds you can see. In the birdlist below I inserted the observed birds of the last year (for example Airone bianco maggiore, Cicogna bianca, Mestolone, Codone, etc). But of course some of the birds only visit during migration, or during the breeding season, so the list is different for every visitor. The best time for a visit is the spring, summer and autumn. Since Spring 2025 the Usignolo di fiume became part of the Fauna at the Scheringteiche.
