Descrizione
The Salmenwiesen meadows are easily accessible and offer a good mix of birds all year round, especially at times when there is water on the meadows and in the ditches. When the meadows are flooded, a good number of birds use the meadows as a place to feed and rest. Oca selvatica, Oca canadese, Airone cenerino, Gallinella d'acqua, Germano reale and Cornacchia nera are nearly always present. At times they are joined by Cicogna bianca, Casarca and Alzavola.
During spring migration it is possible to see pairs or small groups of Saltimpalo and Cutrettola. If you are lucky, you may see Beccaccino , Forapaglie macchiettato or even a rarity such as a Airone guardabuoi! During spring and summer there is a good chance of observing Sterpazzola, Averla piccola and Rondine. Birds of prey can also frequently be observed soaring over the meadows.
In winter, Pispola and Ballerina bianca are usually present and can be heard and seen foraging on the meadows and in the reeds.
