Moosschwaige has surprisingly varied habitats. There are reedbeds (Cannaiola, Cannareccione), ponds and streams (Porciglione, Martin pescatore) with attached wetland being actively maintained by beavers. There are also woods and grassland.
Star species are Canapino maggiore, Averla piccola and Cuculo in the summer, Averla maggiore in the winter, and woodpeckers all year round, including Picchio rosso minore , Picchio cenerino and Picchio nero.
