In the middle of the Berlin suburbs, the Königsheide is a refuge for animals of all kinds. The forest consists predominantly of a sparse stand of oaks, but also of pines or a mixture of both species. Typical forest birds can be found here (Picchio rosso maggiore , Picchio rosso mezzano, Tordo bottaccio, Picchio muratore, Regolo). A large sandy dry grassland further enriches the area.
