Descrizione
Kiesseen Prettin is a body of water of 112 hectare located on the Elbe River near Prettin. Characteristic are the shoals and the sandbanks, some of which lie in the middle of the water. Almost 50 breeding bird species are known on the site. The waterfowl include Cigno reale and Folaga. The vertical bank walls are inhabited by Topino, and Beccaccia di mare breeds on the gravelly flat banks. Cannaiola, Cannaiola verdognola and Migliarino di palude live in the reed beds, while Usignolo and Pendolino live in the damp wood along the banks. The dry bushes are inhabited by Averla piccola, Sterpazzola and Bigiarella, while Gheppio, Rigogolo and Passera mattugia breed in the trees. Starna, Stiaccino, Cappellaccia and Culbianco live on the ruderal and barren areas. The gravel lakes are also important for resting migrating waterfowl, especially Oca granaiola della tundra, Oca lombardella, Moriglione, Moretta and Smergo maggiore.
