Descrizione
There are several ponds here where many waterfowl can be seen, including Canapiglia, Fischione, Alzavola, Mestolone, Moriglione, Quattrocchi and several others. During autumn migration several different geese can be found here, and sometimes Gru as well. Svasso collorosso, Svasso maggiore, and Tuffetto can often be seen here, and there is a tree in the Inselteich where Cormorano and Airone cenerino can often be seen sunning themselves. There are four observation towers which provide a clearer view over the lakes.
The ponds are surrounded by considerable reedbeds, which provide a home for Salciaiola and Cannaiola .
The bushes, trees and fields that make up the rest of the area are great for general birding all year round; Averla piccola and many small passerines are always present.
The Karower Teiche are the southern-most part of the larger protected landscape that includes the Moorlinse Buch and Bogenseekette/Lietzengraben areas. This whole territiory combined makes for the richest birding experience within the greater Berlin area.
