Descrizione
The Feldberg is the highest mountain of the Black Forest and holds a variety of typical mountain birds of the region. Many breeding birds arrive late, so that a visit in May or June is particularly rewarding. Best spot for Venturone alpino is around Todtnauer Hütte. Gallo cedrone still occurs in the area, but is very difficult to find. Best chances for Picchio tridattilo are along the "Felsenweg" (northernmost section of the circuit). In some years Piviere tortolino rest on the alpine meadows in early September. Sordone and even Fringuello alpino can be found occasionally in late spring, particularly near the monument on top of the mountain.
