Descrizione
The Eibsee is a picturesque mountain lake below the Zugspitze, Germany's highest mountain. Svasso maggiore and Smergo maggiore occur on the lake itself, but the surrounding coniferous forests are much more interesting. In addition to typical forest birds such as Picchio nero, Picchio cenerino, Nocciolaia, Rampichino alpestre, Cincia mora, Cincia dal ciuffo and Crociere comune, also mountain birds such as the rare woodpeckers Picchio tridattilo and Picchio dorsobianco, and Civetta nana and Luì bianco are found here.

Accesso
On the east side of the lake there is a large parking lot and a Zugspitzbahn stop, which can be reached from Garmisch-Partenkirchen in half an hour. There are also bus services on route 9840. From the car park you can explore the area on foot or by bike, although some paths are not accessible by bike. Due to the high number of visitors, you should arrive early in the morning and not stay on the lakeside path, but a little away from it. The northern route indicated on the map is good for spotting woodpeckers and other forest birds.
