Descrizione
The Borkener See with its nutrient-poor body of water forms the core of one of the largest and most important nature reserves in Germany, which primarily serves as a resting area for numerous rare bird species. Due to its large body of water and its mild climate, it remains ice-free for a long time. A total of 235 bird species have been observed here since 1990. Strolaga minore and Strolaga mezzana are regularly seen. As are Gru, Oca granaiola della tundra, Oca lombardella, Orco marino, Smergo minore and Pesciaiola. Also rare guests such as Oca lombardella minore, Falco cuculo, Voltapietre, Falaropo beccolargo, Falaropo beccosottile, Mignattino piombato and Mignattino alibianche can be seen here. On good days, up to 2,000 ducks and just as many seagulls can be seen on the lake.
