Marais de Contes is one of the largest wetlands in the lower Canche Valley. The ponds were created by peat extraction. Today, the marsh is a 63-hectare protected natural site. Three routes of 1.5 - 2.5 - 3 km allow for observation. Among the birds you can observe are Oca selvatica, Oca canadese, Cigno reale, Germano reale, Svasso maggiore, Colombaccio, Tortora dal collare, Folaga, Airone cenerino, Martin pescatore, Cinciarella, Forapaglie comune, Sterpazzola and Usignolo di fiume.

Français: Le Marais communal de Contes, près d’Hesdin, constitue l’un des plus grands marécages de la basse vallée de la Canche. Les étangs sont issus de l’extraction de la tourbe. Le marais est aujourd’hui un lieu de nature préservé de 63 hectares, géré par la Fédération de pêche. 3 parcours de 1,5 - 2,5 - 3kms permettent de l'observation.

Marais de Contes is located northwest of the town of Hesdin. From Hesdin, head towards Huby Saint Leu and then Aubin Saint Vaast. Follow the D 113. The car park (approximately 6 car spaces) is located on this road at the exit of the village. Press P on the map for directions to the parking. The circular walking route around the wetland is about 4 km.
