The Regional Natural Park of the Brenne is one of the best areas in France for birdwatchers with numerous songbirds and waterbirds. The landscape is flat with many lakes and ponds dotted around a preserved area of meadows, heaths, scrub and woodland. Good for all wildlife especially in spring and summer. Large numbers of Gru pass through, thousands stay for the winter. During the breeding season many Mignattino piombato breed in the area. Other birds that are common are Martin pescatore, Cormorano, Falco di palude, Cavaliere d'Italia and different species of ducks, geese, herons, rails, waders and grebes.

Français: Zone humide d'importance internationale, la Brenne recèle une faune et une flore d'une richesse exceptionnelle. De nombreux oiseaux trouvent ici refuge et nourriture et les étangs nous laissent entrevoir une richesse ornithologique très variée. C'est l'une des meilleures régions de France pour l'observation des oiseaux avec de nombreux oiseaux. Le paysage est plat avec de nombreux lacs disséminés autour d'une zone préservée de prairies, de landes, de broussailles et de bois.

Accesso
The whole place covers an area 40 km by 30 km, easily accessible via numerous small roads and public tracks. Quickest way round is by car, but also easy cycling and walking. Many bird hides in the area, especially at Chérine national nature reserve and Foucault/Massé regional nature reserve + other protected sites (see the map for the central route and the location of bird hides). Yhe area also has a visitor center: Maison du Parc (northwest of the town of Rosnay, see the map). Maison du Parc is also the starting point for nice hiking routes along meadows, forests and lakes that are also good for birding. Click on a P in the map to get directions to the parking place of your choice.
Note: the bird hide Observatoire de l`étang Cistude is only accessible from Wednesday to Monday between 10 am and 12.30 pm and closed on Tuesdays.

Français: La Brenne s'étend sur une superficie de 40 km sur 30 km, facilement accessible par de nombreuses petites routes et chemins publics. La voiture est le moyen le plus rapide, mais il est également facile de faire du vélo et de marcher. Nombreux observatoires d'oiseaux dans la région notamment à la réserve naturelle nationale de Chérine et à la réserve naturelle régionale de Foucault/Massé + autres sites protégés (voir la carte pour le parcours central et la localisation des observatoires d'oiseaux). Vous pouvez commencer une visite au centre d'accueil Maison du Parc (au nord-ouest de la ville de Rosnay, voir la carte). Vous pouvez obtenir de nombreuses informations sur la Brenne. La Maison du Parc est également le point de départ de belles randonnées le long des prairies, des forêts et des lacs propices à l'observation des oiseaux. A noter : l'observatoire de l'Observatoire de l'étang Cistude est uniquement accessible du mercredi au lundi de 10h à 12h30 et fermé le mardi.
