The Plateau des Gras is home to an incredible wealth of species. Migrating, stopping over, nesting, or wintering. Birds that thrive in dry grasslands are very common. Protected plants, herpetofauna, and bats are also of interest. It is close to the beautiful hamlet of Viel Audon, a must-see for hikers, and the charming village of Balazuc, where the Ardèche River flows. Good chances of observing a Aquila di Bonelli.

Le plateau des gras abrite une incroyable richesse d'espèces. En migration, en halte, en nidification ou en hivrnage, passereaux patrimoniaux protégés inféodés aux pelouses sèches y sont très fréquents. Plantes protégées, herpétofaune et chiroptères y sont d'un intérêt certain. proximité avec le très beau hameau du Viel Audon à visiter absolument en rando, et du charmant village de Balazuc ou passe l'Ardèche. Le fameux Aigle de Bonelli se promène par là!

The Gras de Balazuc area is accessible from Uzer or Balazuc. Press P on the map for directions to a parking spot. Interesting hikes and bike rides are possible. The circular walking route shown on the map is about 7 km. Easy to split in half. Note that the area is extremely touristy in the summer and also is extremely hot, so best to visit the area outside the summer season.
