In my opinion, Etang du Charnier is the best spot for Pollo sultano in the Camargue, one time I saw 16 of them. It is also a very nice spot for Fraticello, Sterna zampenere and Sterna comune. With much luck, you can spot Tarabusino. It is also a very good spot for Garzetta. In the whole area, you can see up to 100 on one day. The Pollo sultano likes small branches of reeds, but also sits in reeds or on muddy areas next to some reeds.

Etang du Charnier is located 30 km west of Arles and 50 km east of Montpellier. I would suggest to go by car, because the area is located on a busy road with cars going up to 100km/h. But there are also small parking gapes where you can watch the birds. Press a P on the map for directions to a parking spot.
