Nyord is a small island and besides the farmland, the island consists of 400 hectares of beach meadows. In winter these are flooded with seawater. These meadows are known as one of the best habitats for wading and swimming birds in Denmark. In spring, many birds breed here. From the tower you can observe waders here such as Pantana, Avocetta, Pavoncella, Pettegola. There is also a chance of seeing Aquila di mare, Falco pescatore, Falco pellegrino or Albanella minore. You can take a walk to the village past the Hyldevang Nature Center and see birds along the way such as Passera mattugia, Fanello, Cutrettola en Saltimpalo. In the small harbour you can see Sterna comune hunting for fish and maybe find a Marangone dal ciuffo.
