Heliconias Nature Inn is located in a huge garden that borders a private jungle. The bungalows, tree-houses and rooms are scattered over the large garden. Behind the garden you find a private patch of rainforest with trails. The huge complex also has ponds, lawns, a vegetable garden and hot springs. The site is very good for relaxed birding and often birds can be observed from very close. It is easy to see chachalacas, toucans, motmots, guans, tanagers, flycatchers and kingfishers. But also monkeys, red-eyed tree frogs and sloths.
Bird species you can observe include Grey-headed Chachalaca, Crested Guan, Yellow-eared Toucanet, Yellow-throated Toucan, Keel-billed Toucan, Orange-chinned Parakeet, Ringed Kingfisher, Social Flycatcher, Baltimore Oriole, Scarlet-rumped Tanager, Golden-hooded Tanager, Rufous Motmot and Montezuma Oropendola.
