Zone Humide de Léaucourt is located on the right bank of the river Scheldt. The wetland is made up of a valley formed by 2 meanders separated by a dike. There is also a drainage channel coming from the agricultural plain and flowing into the old bed of the Scheldt and in the continuity of the ditch. Finally, enclosed between the ditch and the channel on one side, and the Scheldt on the other, is a cultivated area, an educational arboretum and a private property combining a poplar grove, parkland and artificial fishing ponds. A ‘plant garden’ for educational purposes can be found on the riverbank.
The reed bed and the various drainage channels are home to Cannaiola and Cannaiola verdognola, Pettazzurro and Migliarino di palude. Martin pescatore frequently visits the old river arm without however nesting there. On the neighbouring fields, many Pavoncella, Volpoca, and more rarely Beccaccia di mare can be observed.

Français: Zone humide aménagée autour d'un ancien méandre de l'Escaut. Situé en rive droite de l'Escaut, la Zone Humide de Léaucourt est constituée d'une noue formée de 2 méandres séparé par une digue. On y retrouve également un canal de drainage provenant de la plaine agricole et s'écoulant dans l'ancien lit de l'Escaut et dans la continuité de la noue. Enfin, enclavée entre la noue et la rigole d'un coté, et l'Escaut de l'autre, se retrouvent une zone cultivée, un arboretum didactique ainsi qu'une propriété privée associant peupleraie, parc et étangs de pêche très artificialisés. Localement sur la berge se retrouve un "jardin des plantes" à vocation pédagogique.
La roselière et les différents canaux de drainage abritent notamment les Cannaiola et Cannaiola verdognola , la Pettazzurro , le Migliarino di palude. Le Martin pescatore visite fréquemment le «bras mort» sans toutefois y nicher.Sur les cultures avoisinantes s'observent de nombreux Pavoncella , des Volpoca , plus rarement des Beccaccia di mare.
