The Vlassenbroek polder is being designed as a controlled flood area for the river Scheldt. The polder is located in a Scheldt meander and has an area of approximately 300 hectares. You will find freshwater salt marshes that are intersected with deep, steep channels. There are also reed fields, brush, creeks, marshes, wet grasslands and willow thickets. Birds you can see in the area are for example Pettazzurro, Rigogolo, Cincia alpestre, Migliarino di palude, Forapaglie macchiettato, Falco pecchiaiolo, Garzetta, Cuculo, Volpoca, Tuffetto, Pavoncella, Beccaccino and Martin pescatore.

Nederlands: De polder van Vlassenbroek wordt ingericht als gecontroleerd overstromingsgebied voor de Schelde. De polder ligt in een Scheldemeander en heeft een oppervlakte van circa 300 hectare. Je vindt er zoetwaterschorren die worden doorsneden met diepe, steile geulen. Ook zijn er rietvelden, ruigten, kreken, moerassen, natte graslanden en wilgenstruweel. Vogels die je er kunt zien zijn bijvoorbeeld Pettazzurro, Rigogolo, Cincia alpestre, Migliarino di palude, Forapaglie macchiettato, Falco pecchiaiolo, Garzetta, Cuculo, Volpoca, Tuffetto, Pavoncella, Beccaccino en Martin pescatore.

The Vlassenbroek polder is located near the village of Vlassenbroek, east of the town of Dendermonde. The nature reserve is freely accessible to the public all year round on the trails. Boots or sturdy walking shoes are recommended. Parking is available in the village near the church. Click on the P on the map for directions to the village. From the village you can explore the area. The route shown on the map is approximately 9 km, but can easily be shortened.

Nederlands: De polder van Vlassenbroek ligt bij het dorp Vlassenbroek ten oosten van Dendermonde. Het natuurgebied is het hele jaar door vrij toegankelijk voor het publiek op de wandelpaden. Laarzen of stevige wandelschoenen zijn aanbevolen. Parkeren kan in het dorp bij de kerk. Klik op de P in de kaart voor een routebeschrijving naar het dorp. Vanuit het dorp kun je het gebied verkennen. De route die op de kaart is weergegeven is ongeveer 9 km, maar kan ook gemakkelijk ingekort worden.
