Les Abattis is a small nature reserve of 40 hectares. The site is recognized as a Special Zone of Preservation in the European Natura 2000 network. The site is not far from the current bed of the river Semois. Work on developing and straightening the bed of the Semois in the 19th century caused this oxbow lake to form which is now fed by springs. The area has hay meadows, wet meadows, reed beds, woodlands, plantations of conifers and poplars and the centre is occupied by a still flooded backwater. Many types of birds can be found here. Among the birds you can encounter are ducks, herons, Cuculo, Rigogolo, Picchio rosso minore, Martin pescatore, Ciuffolotto, Frosone, Lucherino, Averla piccola and if you are very lucky Cicogna nera.

Français: Anciens bras mort de la Semois, zone d'observations des oiseaux d'eau et de la foret. L'endroit est constitué par une vaste dépression alluviale correspondant à une zone d'anciens méandres de la Semois. Les habitats rencontrés sont riches et variés: mégaphorbiaies à reine des prés et aconite napel, prairies de fauche mésophiles, prairies humides, magnocariçaies, roselières à glycérie aquatique, saussaies marécageuses, boisements feuillus alluviaux, auxquels s'ajoutent diverses plantations de résineux et de peupliers. Le centre est occupé par un bras mort encore inondé dont l'intérêt biologique et paysager est remarquable.
