Descrizione

This 1.5 km beachwalk takes the visitor to a sandy point which usually hosts good numbers of birds generally, but including Sanderling in summer. Other migratory shorebirds often seen in summer include Ruddy Turnstone and Great Knot. Once at the point, even though close to suburbia, there is a 'wilderness feel' to this place; usually the visitor will be the beach's sole occupant.

There are two options for the return walk. First, simply beachwalk back. Second, directly cross the beach dunes from the south facing beach, as shown on the map, and arrive at a formed path which returns to the parking area.

This path is not signed and birders should take note of the route shown. The start is not that easy to find but is 'marked' by two large limestone rocks placed across it to deter four wheel drivers. If not found, simply return via option 1. However this will mean that most of the site's bushbirds will be 'missed'.

Informazioni aggiuntive

Note that the beachwalk will be easy except during high tides. These will force walkers higher up the beach on to soft sand. It's a good idea check the tide times at Rockingham before travelling. See a link to the tide table below.
