Giralang Pond (Giralang Wetlands), formed by a small weir on Ginninderra Creek upstream of Lake Ginninderra, is a vital urban wetland in Canberra. This single, shallow wetland with reed-fringed and vegetated edges provides essential habitat for a variety of bird species, including yearly breeding Nankeen Night-Heron, Pacific Black Duck, and Australian Reed Warbler. In addition, there is a small island characterised by appropriate vegetation that provides a refuge for large flocks of Australian White Ibis, Great Egret, and Royal Spoonbill on a regular basis.

The best way to explore is on foot. A maintained bike path and footpath (1,3 km) runs along Ginninderra Creek, connecting to Smalley Circuit and Giralang Pond. Press P on the map for directions to a parking spot.
