Descrizione
The Avon River in Northam attracts waterfowl, waders and small passerines. It is easily accessible on paths through surrounding parkland. There is a weir at the north end of the river which creates a large water body. The banks on south end of town are edged with bushland. Likely species include Yellow-billed Spoonbill, Black-fronted Dotterel, Pied Stilt, Common Sandpiper, Australian Pelican, various honeyeaters, Striated Pardalote, Hardhead, Grey Teal, Eurasian Coot, Rufous Whistler and Australian Ringneck.

Northam is just over an hours drive from Perth, and you can't miss it as you enter town as the road goes over the river. Trains from Perth are infrequent and take 2 1/2 hours. Lots of parking available by the river. Press a P on the map for directions to a parking spot.
