Description
The Winsford Flashes are three shallow lakes along the course of the River Weaver that were created in 19th century as a result of ground subsidence from brine extraction. The Bottom Flash covers 90 acres, with a Marina on the north and Rilshaw Meadows in the west.
Marina attracts large number of Hettumáfur (many with colour rings), Hnúðsvanur, Bleshæna, Kanadagæs, Sefhæna, etc.
The Rilshaw Meadows is a small public park bordering the Flash and River where large number of gulls gather at all times of the year (Stormmáfur, Silfurmáfur, Sílamáfur, etc.) The little forest along the river has breeding Barrspæta, Músarrindill, Glóbrystingur and other woodland species).
