Sharpness dock has a large tidal basin and lock which is connected to the Gloucester and Sharpness canal.
If you visit Sharpness Docks you are guaranteed to see the local pair of Förufálki. Also a good chance if you come at the right time to see Húsaskotta. In the Marina if your lucky you might see a Bláþyrill or two as they nest on the canals steep muddy bank.
Normally your allowed to take the road from the right of the main tower and should be fine as long as you can give access to the gates as they are sometimes used but rarely. From this point you can see Förufálki on the tower, Húsaskotta on the old ships docked.
Sharpness Docks continues as a working port, but most of the old warehouses have been replaced by modern facilities. Visitors are welcome at the picnic site on the south side of the entrance to the tidal basin, from where ships can be seen arriving and departing around the time of high tide.
