Rocky peninsula at eastern end of Largo bay, with pine plantation, open grassland and calciferous sandy beach.
Ruddon's Point is said to be the best place in Britain to view overwintering Hrafnsönd, Korpönd and the rare Krákönd together. Also wintering here may be Æðarfugl, Hvinönd, Gulönd, Sefgoði, Flórgoði, all 3 diver species, Sendlingur and Toppönd.
Sönglævirki, Strandtittlingur, Tjaldur, Stelkur, Sandlóa and Hörfinka breed here, plus Krossnefur, Barrfinka and Glókollur in the pines.
As with many east coast sites, rare migrants such as Hauksöngvari, Hnoðrasöngvari and Peðgrípur may turn up in September.
Take the A917 eastwards from Largo and park at entrance to Shell Bay caravan park. Click on a P in the map to get directions.
