RSPB basic site on the levels. Good all year round birding. Can flood in winter after heavy rain.
Located in the heart of the Somerset Levels and Moors, Greylake is a flat wetland with good paths and reedbed. Thanks to all the water, you can see Vepja, Stelkur and Hrossagaukur nesting in the spring. Smaller birds such as Síkjasöngvari, Gulerla and Seftittlingur can be heard and seen singing from the trails.
Over winter, vast flocks of ducks and waders, being hunted by birds of prey. Vepja and Heiðlóa are sometimes joined by Lóuþræll, Rúkragi and Jaðrakan. Large flocks of Rauðhöfðaönd, Urtönd and smaller groups of Skeiðönd, Gargönd and Grafönd feed in front of the hides. Förufálki and Brúnheiðir are seen regularly and Smyrill and Bláheiðir occasionally.
There is a free car park off A361 (Ashcott to Taunton road) well signposted just before entrance. There is a boardwalk which meanders from the car park to the hide and provides disabled access. Said to be wheelchair friendly but never tried.
There is one main hide and several 'viewing screens'
