Circular walk alongside the River Ebbw through forest and fields with agriculture bring a varied habitat.
Circular walk through mostly forest with the river Ebbw close by. This walk can be wet in winter. Local fields and farmland bring about a varied habitat attracting a variety of wildlife. Bats are frequently seen in the area as well as owls. Enough varied landscape to explore for a few hours or a day and still not see everything.
Turn off A467 at Abercarn onto the Prince of Wales Industrial Estate. Follow Darren drive until you see the large car park opposite the Abercarn fire station. Click on the P in the map for directions. Park the car and walk a few meters until you see a bridge leading to a factory unit, path in the left before the factory gates. Go down the path following the river and over the footbridge.
When you cross the footbridge over the river the path splits into two, go right and you can follow the path into the forest where is splits in several directions. Go left and the path emerges into a lane York Place, turn left and after 500 meters it crosses the railway line follow road until it meets the A467. Turn left and walk until you see the turning for the Prince of Wales Industrial Estate, follow Darren Drive until you get to the car park.
