Cannop Ponds are two reservoirs within the Forest of Dean, originally created in 1820s to supply a waterwheel at Parkend Ironworks.
Today, the Cannop Ponds are used for fishing by the Yorkley Angling Club and the site makes an idyllic spot to view local birdlife. Enjoy the picturesque picnic area overlooking the ponds and look out for Dverggoði, Sefsöngvari, Mandarínöndand a pair of nesting Hnúðsvanur.
The Cannop Ponds are located 3 km east of Coleford. Inbetween the ponds, there is a parking site. Press P on the map for directions to the parking. From the parking you can walk around both ponds. The circular walk around both ponds is about 2,5 km. The local cycle trail runs along the ponds as well.
