Nature Reserve, Ramsar site, Natura 2000, Marine Reserve, IBA and KBA. Important place for migrating, breeding and resting birds of all kinds.
Svensksundsviken is an El Dorado for birds both as a breeding place and as a resting place during their migration. Svensksundsviken is a shallow bay with about twenty islands. Along the bay's shores are vast, grazed beach meadows, reed areas and dry slopes with single bushes. Here and there are also oak pastures, forests and cliffs. In total, more than 250 bird species have been seen here and around 130 different breeding bird species in the large nature reserve. In connection to the wetlands there are pastures with old oaks and a rich flora. The nature reserve is easily accessible and the rich nature can be experienced from both hiking trails and a bird-watching tower. It is a perfect place for birdwatching. Different habitats in combination with a used route for birds on migration makes a perfect combination.
Some rare bird findings recent years: white-rumped sandpiper (2022), yellow browed warbler (2021), corn bunting, pacific golden plover (2020), terek sandpiper, cattle egret.
