Description
Stockviken is one of the best birding areas on Gotland. It has two different areas: an inland lake ("inre") with a watchtower and a bay ("ytre"). You can see ducks, geese, Haförn, Steindepill, terns, reedbirds and waders. Many rare species have been seen here over the years. The area's nesting birds include waders such as Stelkur, Tjaldur, Rúkragi, Fjöruspói, Jaðrakan, Bjúgnefja and Lóuþræll, but also other species such as Dvergþerna, Ránþerna and Kría. Especially in spring – from early April to mid-May – but also during autumn – mainly in October – thousands of Helsingi can be seen in the area.
