The only Q. pyrenaica oak forest in the province is home to interesting flora (peonies, daffodils, orchids) and fauna (birds and reptiles especially).
Torca de Los Melojos is a mid-mountain oak forest, close to the upper part of Calar del Mundo and with unique characteristics in the Iberian southeast. In addition to birds, it has the presence of Ocellated Lizard, Western Three-toed Skink and Cabrera's Vole among other animals. One of the best places to see Skógarsnípa in the province (autumn/winter), as well as Lambagammur (all year round). Also interesting as it is the only stable breeding point for Garðaskotta in the province.

From the road that goes from Riópar to Cotillas, after 9.5 km, take a detour to the left on a sharp curve. From that forest track, you have to reach a fountain (Fuente de las Raigadas) and from there walk up.
