Description

Puerto de Piedrasluengas is a mountain pass at an altitude of 1,355 m and located on a lush beech forest. From this place there is an impressive panoramic view of the Picos de Europa and part of the Palentina Mountain. The surroundings are formed by meadows and deciduous forest and surrounded by high peaks. Here we can find a wide representation of the forest birds of the Cantabrian Mountains, such as Svartspæta, Laufmeisa or Skógfeti, birds of open environments such as Gultittlingur and Þúfutittlingur, As well as some raptors such as Gæsagammur, Skarngammur and Gullörn.

Espagnol: Puerto de montaña en la divisoria de Cantabria y Palencia. A 1355 m de altitud y situado sobre un frondoso hayedo, desde este lugar se tiene una impresionante panorámica de los Picos de Europa y parte de la Montaña Palentina. El entorno del puerto está formado por prados y bosque caducifolio y rodeado de altas cumbres. Aquí podemos encontrar una amplia representación de las aves forestales de la Cordillera Cantábrica, como Svartspæta, Laufmeisa oSkógfeti , aves de entornos abiertos como Gultittlingur y Þúfutittlingur , además de algunas rapaces como Gæsagammur, Skarngammur y Gullörn.

The mountain pass is accessed by the CL-627 road from Cervera de Pisuerga to Potes, or vice versa.

From the Piedrasluengas viewpoint, you can go down a track that goes into the upper part of the beech forest (it is highly recommended to do this walk to observe the forest species). From this point you can also make the ascent of Peña Labra (2,028 m), with a rich community of alpine birds.

Desde este punto también se puede realizar la ascensión de Peña Labra (2028 m), con una rica comunidad de aves alpinas.
