Description
The Porto de Burela is a fishing port with different ships on which numerous gulls rest and a wide area of water protected from the waves that serves as a shelter for a good number of birds. It is one of the best spots in the province of Lugo for seagull watching. Here 13 species of gulls have been seen, of which the most common are Klapparmáfur, Sílamáfur, Hettumáfur, Lónamáfur, Svartbakur and .
It is also a good place to see seabirds such as loons (Himbrimi, Lómur and Glitbrúsi), alcids (Álka, Langvía and Lundi), pelagic gulls (Dvergmáfur and Rita). The area has numerous observations of rare birds such as Hvítmáfur, Klapparmáfur, Hringmáfur, Bjartmáfur, Flórgoði, Sendlingur, Strandtittlingur and Snjótittlingur.
