Description

The area of Las Penitas has some water and is relatively green and therefore holds some migrants as well as sedentary songbirds. Additionally, Skarngammur can be seen relatively sure. To see them scan the sky and the top of the mountains. The old reservoir is filled with sand and only small waterholes downstream are left so you cannot expect a lot of waterfowl anymore. But this place is the home of one Úfur which however is probably an escape. Other birds you can encounter in the area are Sunnumeisa, Þyrnihæna, Díladúfa and Herfugl.

Access

You can either start the walk from Rios Palmas in the east and walk down or from Mesquez in the west. However, we had to search from Mesquez some time to find the correct path so it is probably easier to start in Rios Palmas. Park there in the village and walk the path.
