Kompenzacioni bazen (compensation pool) has more than 220 species recorded by a single local birder, Ivan Medenica.
Locally common birds include Fjalltittlingur, Topplævirki, Þyrnisöngvari and Hagaskvetta. Followed by frequent Stúfhaukur, Hauksöngvari, Fölsöngvari, Laufglói, Turtildúfa, Engirella, Náttfari and Dvergsnípa.
Local rarities include mouth-watering birds such as Hrokkinkani, Flórgoði, Grýtusöngvari, Vatnasöngvari and Sunnulævirki.
