Description
There are many gravel pits in the lower course of the Drina River, part of the IBA Donje Podrinje. One of them, which is easily accessible, is near the village of Crna Bara (Black Pond).
The colony of 50-70 pairs of Dvergþerna breeds in the IBA area. They are accompanied by a similar number of Sílaþerna. Gulönd breeds here too, as well as a large colony of Bakkasvala.

Access
One of the best places to access Drina's meanders in the lower course is gravel pits near Crna Bara. Head southwest of the Crna Bara village where the dirt road passes over the embankment and continues to the gravel pits. Note that the terrain and dirt roads change yearly, because of the heavy gravel exploitation and because of the Drina River itself. However, the chances are very good that the riverbank is easily accessible at the time of your visit and that you can find a good spot to observe the birds.
