Two shallow pools on the Tagus near Barreiro. Previously used to power a tidal mill, now serve as habitats for large numbers of water birds.
Caldeira de Moinho Grande are two shallow pools on a river beach between the Tagus and the Ribeira de Coina, teeming with water birds, such as Lóuþræll, Tildra, Lyngstelkur and Lindastelkur. Next to these pools is a vacant lot coloured yellow by oxalis with a dilapidated factory building. In the distance across the Tagus you can see Lisbon, across the Coina Seixal. Ferries regularly pass by, connecting Barreiro with Lisbon.
