Description
During the spring many waterbirds breed in the Ruda Fishponds Grebes such as Dverggoði, Toppgoði and Sefgoði. During migration many ducks can be seen, most interesting: Grafönd, Skeiðönd, Gargönd, Taumönd and Urtönd, and sometimes others. Bláþyrill can be seen every time on the river flowing through the complex. In the reeds you can hear and see Kampameisa, Reyrsöngvari, Pungmeisa, Sefsöngvari and various other species of warblers. In the sky raptors such as Haförn, Músvákur, Sparrhaukur and Gáshaukur. Various songbird species live in the nearby forest as well. During the migration plenty of shorebirds stop by. Lyngstelkur, Flóastelkur, Hrossagaukur, Rúkragi, Trjástelkur and Lindastelkur being the most common ones.

Access
One small parking spot behind the bridge on the river. Click on the P in the map for directions. Don't wander of the paths as it's a privately owned area. The area can only be visited on foot. The circular route indicated on the map is about 5 km.
