Vast low moor area with peat holes, reed beds, scrape land, marsh forest and open water.
The Rottige Meente is a large reed marsh with peat holes, with the a hide in the middle. You can se Flatnefur, Hvítstorkur and to a lesser extent Sefþvari. Rauðhegri is also possible. Of the many common waders, we mention Rúkragi, Flóastelkur, Háleggur, Lindastelkur and Jaðrakan. Birds of prey such as Gunnfálki and Brúnheiðir are regularly seen. Many species of ducks can be seen on the water, including many Gargönd, Skeiðönd, sometimes Gulönd, Dverggoði and Hvinönd. Songbirds like Blábrystingur, Sefsöngvari and many Síkjasöngvari.

Nederlands: De Rottige Meente is een groot riet/moeras met petgaten.De kijkhut staat er midden in. O.a. Flatnefur Hvítstorkur, Kanadagæs en in mindere mate Sefþvari en Rauðhegri hebben er heel wat stappen neergezet. Van de talrijk voorkomende steltlopers noemen we kemphaan, bosruiter, steltkluut, oeverloper, (IJslandse) grutto. Roofvogels als boomvalk en bruine kiekendief laten zich regelmatig zien. Op het water zijn veel soorten eenden te zien, waaronder veel krakeend, slobeend, soms grote zaagbek, dodaars en brilduiker. Zangvogels als Blábrystingur, Sefsöngvari en veel Síkjasöngvari.
