Description
The area is easily accessible with a walking path around the two lakes. It is unique to have such an area so close to the city. Common reedbirds like Síkjasöngvari, Seftittlingur and Sefsöngvari breed in the reedbeds. Other birds that can be heard or seen are Jaðrakan, Brandönd, Bjúgnefja, Flatnefur and Blábrystingur. Numerous geese and duck species can be seen.
The unpaved trails lead right past puddles full of waders and geese. The Vepja stunt around you to divert attention from their nests.
