The Beningerslikken nature reserve, with its 300 hectares, is an area where many birds find cover. A rough area with reed, open plains and low vegetation.

Description

The nearly 300 hectares of the Beningerslikken nature reserve offer space for birds such as geese, Fjöruspói and Blábrystingur. A rough area with a lot of variety. Lots of reeds, open plains but also low vegetation. Due to the diversity in the landscape, many bird species feel at home in this nature reserve near the village of Hellevoetsluis. Cows graze in the grasslands in the middle of the Beningerlikken. Meadow birds, but also Grágæs, Helsingi and Heiðlóa like to use this piece of nature. In winter, the nature reserve becomes even busier with the arrival of many Stokkönd, Skúfönd, Rauðhöfðaönd and other duck species. Among the other birds that are seen in the area are Mjallgæs , Síkjasöngvari, Brúnheiðir, Bjarthegri, Mjallhegri, Kampameisa, Hrossagaukur en Flatnefur.

Nederlands: De bijna 300 hectare van natuurgebied Beningerslikken bieden rust en ruimte aan vogels als ganzen, wulpen en de blauwborst. Een ruig gebied met veel variatie. Veel riet, open vlaktes maar ook lage begroeiing. Door de diversiteit in het landschap voelen veel vogelsoorten zich thuis in deze natuur in de buurt van Hellevoetsluis. In het midden van de Beningerslikken grazen koeien in de graslanden. Weidevogels, maar ook grauwe ganzen, brandganzen, wulpen en goudplevieren maken graag gebruik van dit stukje natuur. In de winter wordt het natuurgebied nog drukker met de komst van veel wilde eenden, kuifeenden, smienten en andere eendensoorten. Andere vogels die in het gebied gezien zijn: Mjallgæs , Síkjasöngvari, Brúnheiðir, Bjarthegri, Mjallhegri, Kampameisa, Hrossagaukur en Flatnefur.

Access

Parking available in 2 parking spaces: one at the lookout tower, the other just over the dike. You can only explore the area on foot. The circular route is about 5 km. Halfway there is a towing ferry.

Nederlands: Parkeren mogelijk op 2 parkeerplaatsen: een bij de uitkijktoren, de andere net over de dijk. Je kunt het gebied alleen te voet verkennen. De rondwandeling is ongeveer 5 km. Halverwege ligt een trekpontje. Inmiddels is het trekpontje uit het gebied gehaald, waardoor je niet meer een rondje kan lopen. Of het pontje ooit terugkomt, ????
