Description
Ballonzuilbossen is a forest area of about 100 years old. With Scots pines, firs, old beeches, with a fishpond and intersected by a waterway. The forest is intersected by a number of hiking trails, indicated with different colors. It is a very quiet and little visited area. The Svartspæta breeds in the old beech trees. Other birds that you can find in the area include Bláþyrill, Barrspæta, Fauskspæta, Garðfeti and Hnotigða.

Nederlands: De Ballonzuilbossen is een bosgebied van ongeveer 100 jaar oud op de grens van Limburg en Brabant. Het bos heeft grove dennen, sparren, oude beuken, een visvijver en wordt doorsneden door het Afleidingskanaal. Er lopen een aantal wandelroutes door het bos, aangegeven met verschillende kleuren. Het is een zeer rustig en weinig bezocht gebied. De Svartspæta broedt er in de oude beuken. Andere vogels die je in het gebied kunt vinden zijn onder meer Bláþyrill, Barrspæta, Fauskspæta, Garðfeti en Hnotigða.

The Ballonzuilbossen are located northwest of the town of Venray. The best starting point, accessible by car and with sufficient space to park, is the monument "De Ballonzuil". Press P on the map for directions to the parking lot. The forest is best explored on foot. The indicated 5 km walking route on the map is only a suggestion.
