Description
Part of the area belongs to a public park, while the rest is private (and not well kept). Still, it is possible to walk all around the lake (around 45 minutes + birding stops). There is a roost of Kúhegri, a feral small population of Kanadagæs and recently some Dvergskarfur. In the last years, wintering birds have included Siskin, Seftittlingur, Runntítla and Pungmeisa. Other nice birds are Rindilþvari, Bláþyrill and Laufglói. During spring migration several passerine birds stop for a few days, including Netlusöngvari, Grágrípur and Flekkugrípur. Rarities are possible (Collared flycatcher in 2018).
On sunny weekends a lot of people visit the area, so expect disturbance.
