Description

Biotopo San Daniele is a series of artificial reservoirs that were created following the excavation of clay that was used in the nearby furnaces of Monteortone (now no longer existing) for the production of bricks and tiles. Today it is a wetland that is rich in many bird species of both nesting and passing birds. The various basins have different degrees of naturalization: those abandoned for a longer time have a greater number of birds than those used for sport fishing that have a lower variety of vegetation. The area with the highest degree of naturalization is located in the inner part of the area. Among the birds you can encounter are Bláþyrill, Gráhegri, Bjarthegri, Pungmeisa, Hettusöngvari, Sefhæna and Kattugla.
